K-5 Logbook!
- Start a logbook (notebook) is a day-by-day record of your work on your science fair project.
- What kind of book - your logbook may be a simple spiral notebook and may be written in pencil and/or ink, or may be typed/word processed (if typed, assemble into a folder for the Fair)
- Pencil in your name on your logbook as you will erase your name when entering the Fair.
- Your Name - your logbook should not have your name, the name of your school or district, the names of any of your partners, or any other information that could identify you or your school.
- Photographs - if you have photographs in your logbook or on your display, you should not be able to identify any people involved.
- Sequence Number - for the Greater St. Louis Science Fair, you will want to write your Sequence Number (which will be assigned after your local Fair if you qualify to go to Queeny Park for the Greater St. Louis Science Fair) on the inside front cover of your notebook so that we can identify what project it belongs to if it should become separated.
- Top Quality Logbook:
- Contains a statement of your problem and your hypothesis
- Be carefully hand-written or typed
- Note: write in your logbook to record everything you do with your project
- Identify any mistakes by drawing lines drawn through them BUT not erasing them. In this way, the reader can see where you changed your mind, or discovered an error.
- Include the results of your trials, if you are doing an experiment
- Include your thoughts and observations as your research continues
- Include explanations of what you believe your results mean or how you interpreted them
- Contain information that you found at the library, on the Internet, or from magazines, etc. that relate to your research and include the titles, authors, date of publication and pages you read or gathered information from.
