2018 Honors Division

The Academy of Science - St. Louis Science Fair Honors Division was held February 24, 2018 at Webster University.  Additionally, Honors Division students were invited to bring their projects to the Academy of Science St. Louis Science jFair for Grades K-12 in Queeny Park to compete for additional Special Awards.

1st Place
Jerry Zhang, Grade 12, Marquette High School
Project Title:  A Geant4 Monte Carlo Simulation of a Quantum Entanglement Experiment of the Decay of Spin-Singlet State Positronium:  Computer Replication and Multiple Scattering Mitgation
Award:  $3,000 Scholarship!  Jerry is now qualified to compete at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair in May and will receive an all-expense -paid trip to this event. Jerry was recognized at the 2018 Academy of Science - St. Louis Outstanding Scientists Awards Dinner on April 5th.  Jerry also received the St. Louis Chemical Society Award.

2nd Place
Neil Tomala, Grade 11, Parkway West High School
Project Title:  Data-Analytics Modeling to Detect Peripheral Neuropathy:  Augmenting Big Data with Google Trends
Award:  $2,000 Scholarship!  Neil is now qualified to compete at the Intel International Scie3nce & Engineering Fair in May and will receive an all-expense-paid trip to this event.  Neil was recognized at the 2018 Academy of Science - St. Louis Outstanding Scientists Awards Diknner on April 5th.

3rd Place
Alan Peng, Grade 12, Rockwood Summit High School
Project Title:  The Lusztig-Vogan Bijection in the Case of the Trival Replresentation
Award:  $2,000 Scholarship!  Alan will be recognized at the 2018 Academy of Science - St. Louis Outstanding Scientists Awards Dinner on April 5th.  Alan received the Alpha MU Theta Certificate.

Project Title:  Alleopathy in Lonicera maackii
Owen received the St. Louis Chemical Society Award and the East Central District Federated Garden Club Award

Vishnu Kumar, Grade 9, Marquette High School
Project Title:  The Validation of the Psychological Effects of "Superbrain Yoga" through the use of a Brain Computer Interface (BCI)
Vishnu received the OASIS award.

Margie Lodes, Grade 10, St. Joseph's Academy
Project Title:  The Effects of Carbon Dioxide on Phytoplankton
Margie received the American Meterological Society Certificate

Nikhil Mitra, Grade 12, Rockwood Summit High School
Project Title:  A Thermodynamic Approach to Predicting Gal4 Biknding
Nikhil received the St. Louis Chemical Society Award.

Amadi MuseMorris, Grade 12, Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School
Project Title:  Ecotourism and Its Possible Links to the Spread of Pathogens in the Galapagos Islands.  Amadi received the NOAA Award Certificate and medal.

Divya Srihari, Grade 11, John Burroughs School
Project Title:  Targeted anti-cMYC-MAX targeted drug anti-restenosis therapy preserves endothelial proliferation healing capacity while inhibiting Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell proliferation.  Divya received the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society Award.
