Competition and Judging

Schedule:

• Friday, February 3, 2012 drop off projects between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm
• Saturday, February 4, 2012 8:00 a.m. Judges arrive (judge instruction and viewing of projects)
• Saturday, February 4, 2012 8:30 a.m. Students arrive
• Saturday, February 4, 2011 9:00 a.m. Student interviews with judges begins

Important Details:

• Eligible students will receive a confirmation e-mail by the third week in January.
• All Honors Division projects need to be placed at the Fair between 3:00 pm -7:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2012
• All Honors Division students must arrive by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012
• Students should be attired in business casual clothing (i.e. no jeans)
• Continental Breakfast and box lunch will be provided for students
• Students need to be available on Saturday, February 3, 2012 from 8:30 am 4:00 pm.  After Round I, an announcement of the finalists will be made.  Students who do not proceed to the Final Round are free to leave at that time.  Finalists must stay for Round II to present their project to the panel.

The Honors Division fair consists of two rounds of competition:

1. During the first round, students will be interviewed by judges in a one-to-one format.  Click here to view Round I Evaluation Form (Rubric). Students selected as finalists will participate in the second round of competition.  Click here to view Final Round Evaluation Form (Rubric).
2. In the second round, each finalist student will give a 10 minute presentation about his/her project to the entire group of judges; each presentation will be followed by 5 minutes for questions and answers.
3. FYI - Powerpoints and hand-outs NOT allowed.

The awards for the finalists will be announced at the end of the competition on Saturday.

The top 2 students will be given the opportunity to represent St. Louis at ISEF in Pittsburgh, PA , May 13-18, 2012 (all expenses paid!) or may opt for Scholarship Award instead.
